About Tewkesbury Arts & Drama SocietyTADS was formed over 30 years ago as Tewkesbury Amateur Dramatic Society with the aim of providing drama for the enjoyment of it members and the community at large, and to widen the society members' knowledge of all aspects of drama. The Society has seen a number of changes over the years, but the aims of the Society remain the same to this day. In May 2008 the name of the society was changed to Tewkesbury Arts & Drama Society. TADS is always pleased to welcome new members to add to the ranks. Both young and old, experienced or novice are welcome to come along and meet the Society's members at any of our rehearsals or meetings. In addition to the actors and actresses needed for our productions, we always have many posts to fill for the backstage crew. These posts include: Marketting, Stage Management, Rehearsal Prompt, Properties, Lighting & Sound, Costumes, Set design & construction, Front of House, etc. TADS does not set any qualifications or requirements for membership: if you want to join us that is qualification enough. However membership does not confer any right to be in a production; auditions are held for members of the cast of our productions. TADS is run by all of its members; there is no committee or cabal running it. All decisions are made at the monthly meetings. Become a member and turn up at the meeting and you have as much say as the whizzened old-timer in the corner. TADS perform all types of productions, from comedies and musicals to drama and the classics, but with an emphasis on drama. The society performs at the local One Act play festivals, usually presenting plays written by our members. TADS members who are involved with a production for the first time are often surprised at the amount of fun we have producing plays to the high standards we set ourselves. Whether it is a small production with just our vastly experienced trained actors, a community performance with children and first time actors (or the usual something in between these extremes) we always aim for the highest standard of production. It should also be noted that involvement in our productions is a lot of hard work at times, both during rehearsals and at home. TADS rehearsals are usually held twice a week. TADS also organise other events such as visits to other companies' productions, or just trips to the local chippy.....
