Synopsis:  

Molière's study of religious hypocrisy was denounced for impiety after it's premiere in Versailles in 1664 and was banned from public performances.  Tartuffe worms his way into Orgon's household, blinding the master of the house with his religious "devotion", and almost succeeds in his attempts to seduce his wife and disinherit his children before the final unmasking.  

This comedy is one of Molière's best known works,  and was performed in association with the Tewkesbury Festival of Arts.
